Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition

Our partners at the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition have created some very helpful FREE resources for breast cancer patients and their support teams:

“Breast Cancer: Covered or Not?” Book

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, all of your energy needs to be directed toward the critical processes of treatment and recovery. This PBCC book was written to clearly define health insurance options and to guide readers to a better understanding of what’s covered and what’s not, making it easier for them to concentrate on healing.

Free Treatment for Breast Cancer

Because of the efforts of the PBCC and their grassroots advocates, uninsured Pennsylvania women of low or moderate income who are diagnosed with breast cancer can get free treatment through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program. Women who qualify for this coverage can receive free healthcare (except for nominal copayments) throughout their courses of treatment for cancer or a pre-cancerous condition of the breast or cervix. Coverage also includes medical needs unrelated to a cancer diagnosis.

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer and need FREE TREATMENT, call the PA Department of Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program
at 800.215.7494.

Each package contains educational publications, books, information, and special gifts. Their “Friends Like Me” care packages are available for those with metastatic or stage IV breast cancer. The enclosed materials are designed to support survivors and thrivers facing an advanced diagnosis.

Friends Like Me2 Care Packages

PBCC also offers free metastatic breast cancer care packages. An expansion of the original care package program, these kits are designed specifically for women with stage IV metastatic breast cancer.

Traveling Photo Exhibit

“67 Women, 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania” is a PBCC traveling photo exhibit hosted by communities across the state. This touching tribute showcases at least one woman from each of the state’s counties. It serves as a unique reminder of the emotional and physical toll breast cancer can take on women and families.
